Massage for Body Balance

Deepen Sleep Gain Energy Boost Immunity

Relieve Pain • Reduce Nausea • Enhance Healing Ability

We can heal ourselves. Rejuvenation and healing happen in our bodies while our nervous system is in what is called a parasympathetic state. This is why massage therapy is so incredibly effective in facilitating the healing process whether you are recovering from a musculo-skeletal injury, surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, emotional trauma, depression or just want to keep your immune system humming.

Massage has been proven to increase the production of the body’s natural mood elevators: dopamine and serotonin. Likewise, it boosts the immune system’s production of natural killer cells which are key in fighting cancer.

Stress and tension are transformed into a rejuvenating, energized calm. You enjoy deeper sleep, pain relief, mental clarity and greater ease that can carry over into all aspects of your life.

Invigorating/Detoxing Massage Working out the knots
keeping muscles and joints fine-tuned

Stepping up your athletic routine and need sore muscles worked out? Specific types of massage can increase the elimination of waste and toxins stored in your muscles. When waste is removed the cells are able to receive nutrients for making energy and building tissue - you get to enjoy the fruits of your "labor" by feeling loose and energized AND enjoy a solid deep, rejuvenating sleep.

Our Massage Therapist

Patricia Stevenson, is Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Body Work, a member of the American Massage Therapist Association, a Registered Massage Practitioner through the State of Maryland* to perform "non-therapeutic" massage.  Patricia obtained 600 hours of training through the highly acclaimed Potomac Massage Training Institute ("PMTI") in Washington D.C. She is pursuing advanced studies and has received specialized training in working with people with cancer in a hospital setting as well as in private practice.  She also is working as a massage therapist in PMTI's new Breast Cancer Clinic.

Education: Graduate of Potomac Massage Training Institute of Washington, D.C. ("PMTI"). PMTI is a cutting edge, national leader in massage therapy education. This was a rigorous, 600 hour, eighteen month program learning anatomy, physiology, kinesiology and pathology as well as many hours of hands on practical work both in the school and in the field.

Advanced Training: Massage Therapy in the Oncology and Hospital Setting by Charlotte Versagi; Massage for People Living with Breast Cancer - PMTI, taught by Martha Menard, PhD [ approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB)]

** In the state Maryland you will find “licensed” massage therapists with either one of two designations: Certified Massage Therapist (CMT) or Registered Massage Practitioner (RMP). A CMT can work in a health care setting and be referred to by physicians; an RMP cannot work in health care settings nor be referred to by physicians and must state that they perform “non-therapeutic” massage. BUT, both have EXACTLY the same training requirements, take the same national certification exam and must maintain the same continuing education credits. So what’s the difference? 60 college credit hours in ANY field such as accounting, history, art, business, etc. Most often these college credits have nothing to do with massage or health care - and were accomplished before the individual had any idea they would one day pursue this profession. In our opinion this is legal discrimination and a confusing disservice to the public.
