Body Balance, with Pat and Patty Hancock, is my Healing Place.  Six months ago I went there, almost unable to walk across the room without having to sit down.  I had managed, over several months, to get off Cymbalta, which I had taken for fibromyalgia; now my mission was to gain strength and endurance and get off 2 more drugs—nabumetal and omeprazole—which I had taken for years for arthritis.  I was told by my arthritis doc that I’d never get off them, but I was determined to take back control of my life, and it included getting rid of medications and their side effects.

I started Tai Chi class December 2010 for weight bearing exercise.   I have osteoporosis and I broke my hip (femur bone) July 2010.  I had therapy twice a week for 6 weeks, but still had difficulty doing every day things: walking up and down steps, getting in and out of the car, needing to hold a chair to sit and stand, taking a shower, squats.  Taking Tai Chi has made my body, knees, legs, arms stronger.  Now it takes little effort.  Tai Chi is teaching me to deal with stress, to relax.  My attention is improving and taking direction.I was able to work in my flower beds this spring and thr
